Hi there!
Here's what happened to my guitar during the last year. Finally I found a time to make some photos of my Idol and to write some notes for this site. (Shit! I've made some photos but they really suck:( I was hoping to get some quality pics, but my camera f@cked up. I'm so upset about it. On the photos the wood texture is not visible..it's like the guitar's finish is not transparent.. Well, just hoping that if I'll ever get some digital camera I'll make some better pics). I wrote about my pedal and I modified the site, but there wasn't a single word about the guitar itself. So here's what it looks like now:

You can see that I removed pickguard. It was intended to be a 'guard' from pick scratches. But it's not so in my case. I liked to put picks under the pickguard (they don't fall out, and you can even put some spare picks there), like this:

When I removed it (just wanted to see how it looks), there were lots of scratches under pickguard. I tried to polish it, but it didn't help. I was so angry that I didn't put pickguard back in place. And besides that, when I tried to put it back I just couldn's stand the look - I definitely like it without pickguard. Despite several holes left from screws:) Just my opinion.
In the autumn, 2002, I put Seymour Duncan Alnico 2 Pro pickup in my guitar. And finally during this spring (2003) I managed to find Seymour Duncan Dimebucker (yeah, it's rather hard to find it here!) and now I've got it in the bridge. If you want to know a bit more about the pickups - read my pickup review.
Finally, I've modified the electric scheme slightly. As I wrote a long time ago, I found the VCC almost useless. Now I guess there was something wrong with it. It didn't do what I expected from it. My expectations were that when I'm turning the VCC knob, I hear that humbucker sound gradually turns into single sound. But it wasn't so with original scheme (I guess it's just my guitar's problem - maybe some damaged pots or something). In addition, the scheme was rather unclear to me. So I simplified it and now it works just how I want. If you're interested, read about the modification.
What's makes me uncomfortable is noise. Yeah, the whole system produces much noise when turned to distortion channel (especially to 'Gain 2'). Maybe a nice solution is some noise gate / noise reduction device. I'm thinking about it. I considered Rocktron HUSH pedal, but after reading reviews at Harmony Central, I'm really in doubts. I guess that it's better to buy a rackmount HUSH device. But still I'm not shure. I read somewhere that the HUSH is kind of 'intelligent' noise reduction, that is it treats your guitar sound carefully and leaves it almost intact. Who knows if it's true...
That's all for now. Hope you'll find something interesting.
