 BOSS PW-10 V-Wah review (part 1)

Introduction

Hey! There's a new toy for me to play - BOSS PW-10 V-Wah. Despite the name, it's not just a WAH-pedal (I suppose you heard about all of its features..if not, you're at the right place!).

So, to start off, what I was looking for? Yeah, that's right, I wanted some WAH thing. I think, the sound I wanted from it is the sound of Dunlop's Cry Baby. But what I don't like about CryBaby, is the hassle with its pots (you know, in fact I'm afraid of the need to go every year (yeah, someone wrote about this period!) and buy a pot at 30 something bucks..). Otherwise, I would surely buy this Baby (by the way, CryBaby 95 would be 60 bucks cheaper - so it might be something to think about).

Anyway, I wanted the sound of CryBaby, but I didn't want a CB's construction. Yeah, BOSS did it again! If you're in the same situation, V-Wah may be the thing for you. This pedal uses infrared sensor, so the problem with pots wouldn't bother you anymore.

But surely, this is not the only thing to offer. It also have 8 presets (among others, Morley, Vox, Uni-Vibe..) of pedal-controlled effects and 8 distortions with a DRIVE knob (some of these are BOSS Metal Zone, Blues Driver, Marshall Guv'nor, Electro-Harmonix Big Muff). How did they put it in one box? Surely, BOSS uses COSM technology. You may be afraid of the word 'modeling', but hey, the sound is very nice! (don't believe me - I didn't use original effects..but just read reviews at Harmony Central - most of them says the sound is great)

Now I'll tell about all abilities of this baby, and then some words about things that seemed problematic to me or just worth mentioning.
