 Washburn WI-64 PLAB

Well, there's no single word about this beauty on the Washburn's official page. So I can't say much, too. Many guitar selling sites around the web says the following:

"EXCLUSIVE!!! Guitar Player magazine EDITORS CHOICE in shootout from the July 2001 issue. Only 50 pieces were handcrafted using all of Washburn's top features. Buzz Feiten Tuning System, Voice Contour Control, Jumbo Frets, set neck, 18:1 Grover tuners. Beautiful amber burst quilted maple top at 50% off!"

And one more quote:

A Limited Edition and Guitar Player magazine Editor's Choice Award The Idol Guitar was selected as an Editor's Choice in the July 2001 Issue of Guitar Player magazine among 13 models under $1,000. "This guitar is particularly special in its ability to both intonate more sweetly than any guitar in the group and deliver varying shades of humbucker and single coil tones." Only 50 were made in this finish and we have them exclusivly here at an incredible 50% off!

So, it's like some special edition guitar. 'Only 50 were made' - and they are still selling it?..

Well, about the guitar itself. The only info one can get is from the photo below. So, the finish is called 'Amber Burst' ('AB' from the name WI-64PLAB). (But what does this 'PL' stand for?) Gold hardware, beautiful and really amazing quilted maple top (Is it really maple? I don't know. I've found a StarDust guitar having very similar top and it was 'ivory pearloid top', not maple), the headstock with very nice finish (something like pearloid?), original VCC/volume knobs, the pickguard looks similar to headstock (pearloid or something). Pickups are finished in pearloid as well. (Have you noticed how many times have you read the word 'pearloid'? So maybe 'PL' means pearloid?:)) All in all, it's a very beautyful guitar.
